Lotus Root Chips CNY Recipe

Here comes the super late posting of my air-fried Lotus Root Chips CNY Recipe. It was only last night that I finally successfully got it perfectly air-fried using Buffalo Smart Air Fryer. Phew! It was a little oily cos really can't do without oil. I failed terribly the other time when I tired no oil recipe. It just couldn't work. Anyway, this is still a better method as compare to conventional frying method. Only a few tablespoon of oil is require and the kitchen floor is not oily at all. Happy Me!

Crispy Lotus Root Chips.

Ingredients:

  • Lotus Root
  • Oil
"You will need a vegetable peeler, a knife and cassette slicer set.

Peel the lotus root.

Cut and trim the edges to get a smooth flat surface.
Use a Cassette Slicer Set to slice Lotus Root into thin slices.
You can hand cut manually, but trust me, it's really difficult and time consuming. Only 5 minutes is needed to slice 3 sections using a Cassette Slicer Set.
Soak in Salt water for about 15 minutes. Drip dry and lay them on a tray. You can arrange them in layers like what I did. Air dry for about 4 hours or longer.
Pour all Lotus Root to Buffalo Smart Air Fryer 10L Stainless Steel Inner Pot. Add about 5 to 6 tablespoon of oil. Coat and mix well.
Select "Turbo, 210 degree for 15 minutes. Open every 5 minutes to toss and flip, use hand to separate the layers of lotus root, make sure that the layers doesn't stick together.
After 15 minutes of air fryer. Add a little more oil if the lotus root stick together. Select "Turbo, 180 degree for 15 minutes again. Open every 5 minutes to toss and flip, use hand to separate the layers of lotus root, make sure that the layers doesn't stick together. Lower temperature to 140 - 160 degree when it's brown but not crispy yet.
After 2 round of Turbo air frying. Crispy Lotus Root Chips is ready!

Place Crispy Lotus Root Chips on a Kitchen Paper to absorb the excess oil. Store in container when it has totally cool down.

Though this is not oilless, but I consider this healthier than those deep fried CNY goodies. At least I know what oil I'm using and I control the amount of oil used in air frying. Moreover this were freshly made at home-sweet-home without seasoning and salt. It's definitely a better option of CNY snack to give my little one.

This morning she saw it and immediately she said "I want I want". She loves it very much!

Tips: Remember the key is to give in moderation and drink more water after eating. Offer snack only after finishing proper meals. This is my golden rules to my little one.

A CNY without snack is no fun for our precious little one. Enjoy!

  4. I never have thinking about this dish with an air fryer. With one, my family can eat heathier and my kitchen will be cleaner as there is less oil used.
Love Philips air fryer so much.

  5. I am extremely impressed with the results I got using the Oil-less air fryer from Bizarkdeal! I was not sure what to expect to be honest as I was skeptical of how this would actually work. To my surprise, it works amazingly!! It fried my chicken to be crispy and moist as if I fried it in a pan of oil except without the use of ANY oil! Never knew this was possible and glad that I found this and decided to try it out. Excited to try many different types of food with it!
